Animated through photographic sequences painted with golds and grays, the Zen-like visuals sweep into one another with whispering monologues and glitching noises reflecting the realms of cosmos, power, guilt, prayers, and existence.

Growing Pillars is a moving image collage overlayed by object animation captured from the artist’s childhood home. They picked objects, video clips, and images from their personal archives. The selected symbols and motifs are reminiscent of beautiful and turbulent times in life and evoke the intimacy of home, the intricacy of memory, and the fragility of personal archives. They look at all of these materials as a monument in the making, projected onto them by their environment. The filmic movement layered further layered the cleaning gesture to preserve and, at the same time, reexamine all these memories. Growing Pillars intends to challenge the conventional conception of a monument and investigate its ownership, iconography, and value in contemporary
society.
